A modern DSP module can offer loads of functionality and flexibility in your audio system. They can act as an active crossover, digital room correction or as a digital pre amp, some even have built in streaming capability. As such they replace pre-amps and become the centre of your system controlling your source selection, speaker tuning and streaming as a modern pre-amp, often for much less money than a a traditional pre was.
