Description
Mark Audio CHN-50P
This driver is boxed and sold in pairs.
The cone on this small full range speaker driver is formed from paper, mica and fibre-strand materials creating high stability in the emitting surface across the usable frequency range.
F Zero is 126Hz, VAS is +1.24 Litres and SPL 87.5 dB. Useable frequency range (depending on box design) is from 120Hz to 28KHz rated at +87dB in many applications. We have built a gentle rise into the low and high frequency response, as seen in some of our more expensive drive units, to enhance positioning flexibility. The sound presentation is neutral and the Thiele / Small parameters, with a generous 3.5mm (1-way mechanical) Xmax are balanced for ease of use.
The low-mass voice coil, suspension and shallow profile magnesium alloy cone are unique designs for the CHN50P. The pressed steel frame is designed to be very open and allow airflow to be as free as possible to the rear of the cone. The response extends from resonance beyond 20KHz, and the impedance rise at higher frequencies is near flat.
These paper drivers work well in our SL5-SD flatpack speaker kits, which are very easy to build and can be purchased here. As usual Scott Lindgren has designed several DIY speaker cabinets for you to make your own CHN-50P cabinet, which you can see below
