Description
This kit allows you to upgrade your Hypex Nilai Stereo kit to full dual mono operation.
Until now you had the choice of buying either 2 mono kits for proper dual mono operation or sticking with stereo operation with the stereo kit. The stereo kit has 2 Nilal 500 DIY modules and one PS500DIY power supply. Using just one power supply throttled the stereo amplifier to 250W per channel rather than the 500W per channel that the 2 mono kits would allow. This new kit allows you to unlock the extra potential power along with the channel separation you’d expect from dual mono.
This is one of the most requested products from customers who had bought the stereo amp and wanted to later upgrade to dual mono, we now bring it to market.
What is included?
The adapter kit includes an aluminium adapter plate, a pack of machine screws and both the power and switching loom.
What is not included?
You will obviously need a second power supply as well, if you already have one, you are set, if not there is an option above to add one to the kit or you can follow this link and buy one separately.
We also offer an build service which can also be added above. If you send your stereo amp to us we will perform the upgrade to dual mono for you.
Easy install
The kit includes an adapter plate, a new power loom and a switching/control loom.
It’s an easy DIY upgrade just follow the step below or watch the handy video.
Step 1 – Disconnect the amplifier from the mains – please be aware that we offer a build service if you are not confident working with mains voltage.
Step 2 – Disconnect the existing power supply
Step 3 – Unscrew and remove the power supply from the case.
Step 4 – Remove the existing power supply cable and the ribbon cable that connects the PSU to the small PCB mounted on the back panel – this cable carries switching signals from the front switch and the trigger
Step 5 – Screw the PSU to the supplied adapter plate along with the newly purchased second PS500DIY
Step 6 – Use the supplied screws to mount the adapter plate with its PSUs into the case
Step 7 – Re-connect the cables from the amplifier modules
Step 8 – Connect the new ‘y’ type power supply cable to the IEC and then to both of the power supplies
Step 9 – Connect the new ‘ y’ type control ribbon to the small PCB on the back panel and using the longer of the 2 ends and then connect to the 2 PSU modules
Step 10 – Test and enjoy

Thank you very much for this adaptor kit. I received it promptly together with an additional power supply. It was no problem fitting the plate with the power supplies and connecting the cable kit included with the adaptor plate. The job took less than 1 hour. The difference in sound was immediately obvious. A bigger soundstage and better separation of sounds. The sound is now more relaxed and plays better at low volumes. This kit makes that change from stereo to dual mono very easy and the change is at least in my case worthwhile.

Hi KJF Audio. Just a short note to say thanks for your wonderful Nilai dual mono adaptor kit. Delivery to Australia was prompt, and the quality of the product excellent. It was so easy to install with the additional power supply. The difference is has brought to the power amp is subtle but well noticeable, with a little more bass heft and slightly more defined sound stage. Maybe a little more ease as well. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. Thanks again.

Thanks for this review, I am pleased to be helping people out with their switch to dual mono, it was one of the most asked for products before I released it!

I have been considering adding the Nilai dual mono adaptor kit for a while, and today I finally did and I do not regret it one bit. It arrived at 8.30am this morning and by 9.30am it was up and running, although would have been sooner had I realised that some of the screws were in the bottom compartment of the box. Instantly the amp has more control and grip of the speakers and better soundstage, but the thing that struck me most was the bass, much more of it and totally in control not boomy or bloated in any way. I had a Hegel H390 previously and this is equal to it, if not better for a third of the money. Albeit that you need a preamp but still a bargain.

That’s a lovely review, many thanks for that, it really does help people make decisions when they read these reviews. I’ll find a way to make the little packet of screws more obvious in the future, good feedback, thanks.
