These speaker cabinets have been discontinued, this page is maintained for reference only
These classic BBC style cabinets are about 9 liters were designed for the Ergo IX which was designed by the user James over on the PFM forum where many forum members have built it. I have made lots of custom versions of this speaker over the last few years and now introduce a kit version of the cabinet so that it can be used in other small speaker projects
After many hours sat in front of CAD software to make it as easy as possible to put together for repeatable results. Like all of my kits they are pretty much self jigging and all that is needed for the clamping force is some strong but low grab decorators tape. The speaker simply folds up for a good finish, it’s about as easy as speaker building can get and could easily be done by anyone without even the most rudimentary DIY skills. I can of course fully build the cabinets for you should you require.
The cabinet is fully CNC machined out of 19mm Birch Plywood. Once constructed this can be simply sealed, sanded and oiled/waxed for an easy finish or of course you can try your hand at veneering. The baffle is made from 25mm black Valchromat. If you require a different finish or material that can be arranged for a price, please contact me, I can also cut the baffles for any drivers for which measurements are available free of charge if you elect for a built cabinet.
The overall size of the box is 304mm high, 255mm deep and 190mm wide giving you a usable baffle size of 166mm wide by 266mm high
These DIY speaker boxes can be used in other projects and work very well in both sealed and ported alignments for the Pluvia 7.2HD and the Alpair 7MS.
