Description
The CHN110 is a brand-new 5 ¾ inch driver high fidelity multi-purpose design.
Exploiting technologies and features from Markaudio’s continuous research, it has been carefully optimised to provide exceptional bass extension beyond what many 5 ½ inch to 6 ½ inch mid-bass units can deliver combined with full-range frequency output.
The CHN110 cone exploits a high-strength series aerospace grade alloy designed to cope with high bending stress loads. Based upon the shallow, wide-dispersion multiform cone concept, the material thickness has been increased to allow greater operational low frequency load capacity. The all-new long-stroke suspension has been optimised to enhance and support the remarkable low-frequency load capacity, and has an air volume compliance of almost 25 litres. With a new low-distortion motor designed to provide a medium Q, the CHN110 is intended for use in larger enclosures where it can produce significant bass extension for a driver of its size, while providing a sensitivity of over 88dB 1m/w, and a smooth high frequency range extending to 25KHz at +80dB.
Other features include an “easy install” heavy duty steel frame for both surface and recessed mounting. The CHN110 provides custom builders with wide operational flexibility at an affordable price, allowing use either as a genuine, high-performance full-range driver, or as a wide-range mid-bass with simple filtering. Ideal for use in high-fidelity, home-theatre, commercial A/V applications, and suiting a wide range of enclosure types, it continues Markaudio’s reputation for providing qualitative excellence and advanced mechanical engineering at an accessible level.

SUMMARY:
Very good reasonable priced driver, easy implementation and good sensitivity, covers almost all audio range.
Good for replacing of old speakers or DIY build.
DETAILED:
Here is my implementation of CHN-110 drivers into the cabinets from Seas Loki DIY speakers kit.
The Seas Loki kit based on 6.5″ Seas coaxial driver in 12L vented box, old design but still available today.
Since my kit was purchased about 15 years ago, it’s drivers were worn out a bit and suspension glue started detach.
But cabinets by itself are still looks as new (except grill cloth), so I decided not to repair/replace drivers but to try something other like full-ranges.
They should be suitable to my box volume and fit to existing baffle opening.
That’s why CHN-110 by MarkAudio.
It fit very good in my baffle opening.
Actually, I was need only to make a new sealing gasket and remove crossover. Zero woodworking!
After a short burn-in, about 10 hours or so, did some first measurements.
In lack of a specialized acoustic tools, I just used my portable recorder Zoom H1 to capture played noise then puts it to software analyze.
Got results with very good mating to what I can hear by my own ears, or can calculate for my small working room.
Will continue burn-in together with background listening, then will re-take graphs and compare.
Also need to find new cloth for grilles. On photo, the grill got some violet tint, but in reality it is black, just lost it’s initial look.
First sonic impressions – good-positive.
Speakers was placed on table close to the wall and corner, directed to listen point.
Room was small, busy of various things and no acoustic treatment at all.
So, no chances for perfect sound. But.
Lows are surprisingly full but not booming.
Mids are smooth.
High area is not annoying at all.
Good impact, details.
Excellent imaging, sounds don’t come “from the box”.
Don’t feel wishes to switch off after a 1-2 hours of listening at low-to-moderate levels. (For me, bad speaker can take 10-15 min max of my time)
